The afternoon wine and tapas menu with the stunning harbour view is the best deal on the island. Excellent service and the views are incredible. We had the prime rib in the manor for dinner last weekend … highly recommend for locals to go!

Incredibly stress-free four days in the Churchill Cottage; best bed I’ve slept on in years. Staff, so friendly so responsive to all ours needs; meals so exquisite thanks to executive chef Marcel; service and charming presence for meals by Dining Room Manager Monty (and a smile to die for) and his service staff of Jonah, Rosie and Justin. Our stay was wonderfully organized, every detail to our exact liking by Front Desk Manager, Marla. I will be back and I will tell friends and family to plan their Salt Spring Island adventure to include Hastings House; a resort and a getaway!

Edit: The general manager called me personally to apologize for service that didn't meet their standards. He offered multiple ways to make up for the shortcomings and said he would ensure that our feedback leads to addressing training gaps and improved service in the future. I greatly appreciate a general manager willing to personally addresses concerns and look forward to returning one day. The setting is gorgeous but our stay was so disappointing. At nearly $500 CAD per night, we expected great service and it was terrible. Several weeks before they asked when we were arriving so they could send the shuttle and despite confirming the night before, when we arrived, it wasn't there. Our room was spacious but quite dated and our windows needed cleaning. After our first night, housekeeping walked into our room at 9, we were still in bed. Breakfast was the best part of our amenities and service was friendly but overall, not worth what we paid. On our last night, we asked about our return shuttle and they said they'd call us to confirm the driver or help us arrange a taxi. Neither happened and when we called, no one answered. At 6:30 am in the dark, we walked with our luggage 20 minutes to the float plane terminal. This property is charming and picturesque but should be priced at half of what we paid. It's essentially like a 3-star hotel with 5-star pricing.

We stopped by Hastings House for their social hour and had an absolutely fantastic time - highly recommend it! From the moment we arrived, we were greeted by Gage, who made us feel instantly welcome. As we walked through the beautiful property to the patio, we were also warmly welcomed by the General Manager, whose kindness and hospitality set the tone for the entire experience. The patio overlooking the harbour is stunning, and the cocktails were delicious. Our server, Jonah, was excellent - friendly, attentive, and full of great recommendations. We weren’t expecting the property to feel quite so magical, but it truly was. Between the setting, the atmosphere, the sheep, the gardens, and the genuinely kind people who work there, it was a perfect evening. We’ll absolutely be back and will be recommending Hastings House to all our friends.

Hastings House Country House Hotel is truly one of my favourite wedding venues to work at. I’ve had the pleasure of doing both photo and video at many weddings there, and every time I’m reminded just how special this place is. The grounds are breathtaking, the historic buildings add so much character, and there’s a quiet charm that makes every wedding feel intimate and timeless. Couples and guests always rave about the beautiful setting, the incredible food, and the warm, attentive staff who make sure everything runs smoothly. From a media perspective, it’s a dream — every corner is picturesque, and the atmosphere is always relaxed and welcoming. If you’re looking for a venue that’s romantic, elegant, and full of West Coast magic, Hastings House is it. Can’t wait to be back for the next one!

From our entrance to the office to our exit through the gate, our experience at Hastings House was unforgettable. We enjoyed the ambiance of the gardens, the English Architecture, the views over Ganges Harbour and quietness of the rooms. The staff were extremely courteous and engaging. We enjoyed sitting close to the fireplace and being served cocktails while in conversation with other guests. Our dinner was very well presented and delicious, as was our morning breakfast served in the east rooms of the house. We enjoyed our suite which had the feeling of being home. Thank you, Allan and your wonderful staff!

Stayed in the Post room mid August 2025. Room lovely, beautiful bay view. The garden is amazing. We picked blackberries which were abundant. Restaurant was excellent for dinner and breakfast. Service was very good. For the price we thought all rooms, particularly the cottages would be air conditioned. Sadly we got a couple 30 degree C days. Fans helped but not very comfortable sleep wise.

We attended the social hour for my sister’s bachelorette. The nice young man who greeted us (Jage) was amazing and so friendly. We arrived about 15 mins early so he took us to feed the sheep. On our walk through to the outdoor patio we had met the GM who was very friendly gave us the most adorable hand made sheep. Our server (Johna) was very fun and friendly. During our walk around the property another very kind woman who also worked there gave us the most beautiful lavender satchel. It was the highlight of our weekend visiting here.
